Graffiti art in china town
I did this graffiti mural on a roll down date in Chinatown,New York city today. I occasionally do graffiti art for hire but not this time . My friends filmed me paint this and are going to make a little film of the endeavor. Some times I talk too much and make an ass of my self. I hope they don’t do me too dirty. LOL
Just saying
I don’t aim to give my life meaning by painting, I aim to get other people’s life meaning through my paintings
Recent still life paintings
I recently went and picked up a a few oil paintings I had stored at an Art Gallery. I occasionally return to painting classical still life oil paintings simply because I enjoy doing it for a few reasons. I like the colors of fruit. I like to blend the colors and create form. I like to compare my art to the art of the past just to see where my skills lined up with other artist I respect. I started out painting these apples just to do one picture. But I ended up doing multiple still life of apples. I did a total of three paintings of the subject matter. People think that there are are 1 million painters to paint bowl of fruit but it is actually quite rare to find anyone who does this subject matter who has any notoriety anymore. These paintings I varied my technique a little just to see if it was something that I liked better in the final product. On one of all I would do a monochromatic underpainting and on another one I try a polychromatic or multicolored underpainting just to see how the effects compare and contrast and what pleases me better. I also will occasionally reuse oil paintings or paint on top of painting which I do not find pleasing. So you can see a red mark on one and also quite a bit of odd texture from a previous work that I oil primed over. Now a days I approach how I prepare that canvas in a different manner. I make sure in only have the staples on the backside of the canvas and this has many positive features. One great feature is the artist can reuse the canvas and take it off the stretcher bars and then restretch it and not leave any unsightly holes on the side of the canvas . I just discovered this upon taking apart a canvas that I recently created in my new fashion of support preparation.
